Writing for Physical Education and Health

The Physical Education and Health department expects all students to respond to questions, assignments, or projects with complete sentences and in a thorough and organized manner.

Assessment for students written responses will primarily be based upon the information, detail, and thought provided in the student’s written work. However, grammar, spelling and punctuation will be considered in the overall assessment.

Student knowledge of physical education and health activities, skills, or concepts will be partially assessed by their written work on examinations. The test items on these examinations will include short answer and open response questions. Test questions will require the student to analyze, compare, contrast, describe, discuss, explain, evaluate, reflect, or relate. The freshman, sophomore, and junior physical education classes include health units. Students will be required to complete various writing assignments. These assignments may ask students to create paragraphs, essays, reports, summaries, or journals.

The senior health curriculum will include several writing assignments, the most significant being a research paper. Health students will also be required to compose paragraphs, essays, reports, summaries, or journals. These works will be in response to homework, test questions, or project based assignments
