The Vineyarder
It is hard to imagine that we are entering our last leg of the 2008-09 school year. This year our young people have won numerous awards in art, literature, journalism, sports, theater, music and science. They have continued to excel in areas such as: the greening of the school, work within the community, peer leadership, and the race culture retreat. We are proud to continually have such a hard working and dedicated group of young people at our school.
Our faculty has worked hard to put into motion my challenge of “raising the bar”. They have put into effect a new evaluation program, professional learning groups, writing across the curriculum, and scope and sequence alignment. They have all given of their time to proudly present their departments to our school committee, and to the public as a whole on television. Aside from teaching they also: mentor, coach, advise, and guide and we are grateful for all they do.
We prepare to say goodbye to our seniors, while openly welcoming our incoming Freshmen, thereby completing our yearly cycle. The level of parent involvement has increased this year and we look forward to getting greater numbers to become part of what we do here at MVRHS on a daily basis. Lastly, we cannot say enough about the support given to us by the community, all of those people who work hard to make this educational dream come true for all of our students. We have a school that should make all of us proud, for we have all had a hand in making it a success.
2008 was a good year for everyone at MVRHS, especially during a very trying time locally and nationally. Hopefully next year we can again all work together to make our high school one of the best educational institutions in the Commonwealth.
