| 1. Each time a student is absent, parents are required to call the attendance office before school on the day of the absence. This is not always an excused absence (see 6 below)
2. When the student returns to school, it is his/her responsibility to bring a note from the parent or guardian to the attendance office. 3. A student who has four (4) or more unexcused absences for the same class(es) in a quarter may not receive a passing grade for that reporting period and will receive no higher that a grade of 59 for each affected class. 4. Exceptions to this rule may be made for the following reasons:
When parents wish to take a student out of school (for a period of time that would cause the student to be absent more than six days in a quarter) for a "pre-planned approved individual learning program", the request must be made of the principal one month in advance of the proposed absence. Excuses for absence or tardiness will not be accepted after 5 days of a student's returning to school (e.g. if a student is absent or tardy on Monday, and returns on Tuesday, he or she has until 2:05 the following Monday to use an excused absence). |
