Mission

The mission of the Gregory T. Scotten School Library is to help prepare our students enter the global information community of the 21st Century.

The library supports the comprehensive programs of the high school with materials in a variety of formats which help meet the needs of all our students as well as those students requiring individualized learning environments. The Library works to ensure that all students, staff and community members can effectively locate & access the library collection. The electronic card catalog is online and accessible at www.mvrhs.org/library.

FACTS

The library is not a study hall.
No Cell phones, food or beverages in the library.
Academic teachers write student passes for students to come to the library
Substitute teachers or TA’s do not write passes for students to come to the library
Sign-Up sheets are available each day for students to reserve library time.
Librarians write passes for students to go to: Nurse, Locker and Guidance only
Students needing to take tests or see teachers must have a note from that teacher to leave the library. Librarians do not issue passes from the library to see teachers.
Library Lunch: All students go to lunch at their assigned time. The library is not staffed during those times. Teachers with their classes using the library during lunch time go at their usual time.

Library Computer Room

A Supervised lab only. ( TA’s may not supervise)

No food or beverages allowed in the room.

LCR (Library Conference Room)

Reserve times with librarians.

Students may not use the LCR without Teacher supervision. TA’s may not supervise students in the LCR.

Library Computers

Educational Use only. No games. You must have a password to use the MACs. (technology issued). See also, the acceptable use policy).

Library Copiers

2 copiers are available to students at no cost. 20 copies maximum on the larger copier and 5 copies maximum on the smaller one.
