How to Insert and Resize Pictures in Appleworks

1. Open Appleworks When it asks you what type of document to create, select DRAWING.
2. In the new document, go to File and select Insert.
3. You will have a dialogue box to open a file Locate the images from your camera (the name should end in .JPG).

• On Macs when you have selected the file hit Insert
• On the PCs when you have selected the file hit OK

4. Your picture will now be on the screen (and most probably way bigger than you want) There are a few ways to change the size of the image you can choose one of the ways below

• Go to the Arrange menu and select Scale by Percent You can choose the percentage amount to scale you will want to keep the two numbers the same to eliminate uneven scaling/distortion.
• Put your mouse over the image, hold it down, and then move the mouse to move the image. When you see the edges of the image, you will notice some small black squares. You can release the mouse button and move the cursor over one of the small black boxes. Hold the mouse button down and move the mouse in towards the center of the image. You will notice it getting small. Release the mouse when it is the size you want.
• You can also make other changes to the image from the Arrange menu (rotate, flip it, etc). You will need to have the Object Selected (click on it once with the mouse when the cursor is over the image) to use these commands.
  

5. You can move the image by placing the cursor over the image and holding down the mouse button. Move the mouse to move the image on the screen.

6. ADDING TEXT You can add text to your images by selecting the (A) in the Toolbar on the left part of the Appleworks screen. When you move your cursor to the document, you will notice that it changes to a different (wordprocessing) cursor.
Click on the area you want to enter the text and a box will appear with a blinking cursor. Type in your text.
