1.    DAILY ASSIGMENTS: If you are absent for a class you must contact a classmate using our phone list (or email list) for the daily assignment(s).  If no students are available, you may email me. You may also stop by the next day if possible to see me for the assignment and new materials (e.g., books, handouts). It’s you responsibility to get any notes about the lesson from a classmate.

2.    CONTINUING ASSIGNMENTS:

•   Each Thursday or Friday (depending on the schedule) we have a vocabulary quiz on the next 30 words. After four weeks of quizzes, we have a test on the previous four weeks of words. No new words need to be studied for the test week. You must have your vocabulary cards completed in class at the start of the quiz.

•          Students must present one book talk on an approved non-fiction book to the class per quarter. It is the student’s responsibility to request in advance a date for the presentation.

•   You should continue to develop your scholar pack on a daily basis by reading widely and writing the appropriate information on an index card.

•          Students should review and study all lecture notes, handouts, or web-based reading assignments on a daily basis. On any given day a test or quiz may be given unannounced on anything we have learned to date.

•          Students should use my website to research and study additional information about all items on their editing checklists.

•     Students should rewrite essays as needed.
